Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana

Launched in 2016 by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, this scheme replaced the National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS) and Modified NAIS (MNAIS). It provides insurance coverage and financial support to farmers, including sharecroppers and tenant farmers, for notified crops in case of losses due to natural calamities, pests, or diseases. The scheme aims to stabilize farmers' income, encourage modern agricultural practices, and ensure the flow of credit to the agriculture sector, helping farmers remain engaged in farming despite adverse conditions.
