National Mission on Edible Oils - Oil Palm

The Ministry of Agriculture has urged states to prioritize oil palm plantation targets under the National Mission on Edible Oils - Oil Palm (NMEO-OP). This centrally sponsored scheme aims to reduce reliance on palm oil imports by expanding oil palm cultivation. The targets include increasing the area by 6.5 lakh hectares by 2025-26, raising CPO production from 0.27 lakh tonnes in 2019-20 to 11.2 lakh tonnes by 2025-26, with a focus on North-East regions and Andaman Islands.
